Choosing a Subwoofer and more

I am thinking of getting 2 subs for my 2001 Toyota Avalon. I am almost sure I am going to get Pioneer Premier TS-W3001D4 from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9238_Pioneer+Premier+TS-W3001D4.html

Those subs come in 4ohm and 2 ohm. Should i get the 4ohm or 2ohm?

Also what kind of amp can power these? And I am getting 2 of them.

I also need a ported box. I dont know how to build one.

And one last question... Does anyone have any success with Sonic electronix??

The choice in voice coil configuration depends solely on the amp you decide to get. I would get a really high power single channel amp and parallel the 4 ohm single voice coil subs to give the amp a final load of 2 ohms. That way you can squeeze the most from the amp.

personally would bump up to type r's imo..... also, prefab boxes **** ***.....

i have bought from sonic once and was happy with the results

yeah i would go with the type rs......def...better and i only order from sonic...they are good.

I also agree, don't use a pre-fab box. Build them a ported enclosure and you will be blown away by the type R's

will they still be able to hit hard, even though the Rms is 500 and peak is 1500w?

The amp you run them off will determine what voice coil configuration you get.

It should also be noted that these subs will handle more than 500RMS and beg for more so dont worry about over powering them. (within reason of course)

similar specs...the premiers look pretty beefy...the type r's have a trak record which would u go with in a 4 cu. ft. box tuned to 35 hz?

You need to evaluate what your goals are for your setup so you can pick what you want. I can tell you that you are going to have to sacrifice an arm and a leg to get anything that will run those Pioneer subs well. If you get the Type R's I think you will be VERY satisfied with them and you wont spend as much.

What sort of systems have you had in the past? What are you used to?

PS: I've bought tons of stuff from sonic electronix and they are great people.

well...i like pioneer...they've got comparable specs...they are the updated model of the spl3004...i was told they can handle more than they are rated for...just as the type-r's can...either way i go...ported box...tuned between 32-35 round 4-5 cubic feet of space!

Well first im only 17 and this is my first car...Ive never had subs in my car before except for the factory system in there now. It is a 7 Speaker upgraded JBl, with one subwoofer. The system is satisfying, but i am in need for some heavy bass. In the car i listen mostly to rap.

To be honest I really dont know what my goals are. I know that I want 2 12" heavy *** bass subs, a loud *** amp. Plus with the pioneer, I am afraid that I will need two amps, then I will need to install a car battery to power them. But I know that the pioneers are good subs. And now im hearing that the alpine are just as good.

Thats why i hav no idea what kind of amp to get. I understand the suggestions, I just need help with like getting the actual brands
