There comes a time in a young mans life, when he realizes that he must express himself in one of two ways. He can either:

A) Wear makeup, cut himself, cry and write songs about what a loser he is

- or -

B) Piss everyone around him off, hailing the term "whippersnapper" from the older community.

It is time for me to B) myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

With that in mind, I need to pick a sub. Now, before we get all crazy-like, I'd like to put in your minds *exactly* what I want. I want good SQ, with enough SPL to... be noticed more or less. I will be a daily driver with this setup. What I want right now willl probably NOT what I will be upgrading to in the future... so what I choose right now does not necessarily have to mesh in with any future endeavors. With that in mind, the power that I'm after now does NOT have to be my end-all-say-all, nor does it have to work along side my future end-all-say-all. Also, for now I'm probably looking for 1 sub.

Ok.. Now it's time for the choices:

Sound Splinter RL-p 12"

IDMAX12D4

RE SX 12"

RE MX 12"

Can't find stats on the net, but when I talked to the guy at RE, he said:

1500 rms

88db sensi

22mm xmax

RE XXX 12" OLDSCHOOL

I can't justify spending 650 on 1 sub quite yet...

http://reaudio.com/html/xxx_ts.htm

I am open to new sub options, and I welcome any and all amp suggestions for any or all of these. Money is kind of, but not really an issue. It's not an issue in the sense that I want great subs, but it is an issue in the sense that I'm not dropping an extra $150-$200 per sub because the name on it is JL

that is the old XXX specs but you have the new XXX price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i vote MX because i want someone to try one out

id max probably wont be as loud as the others, its more sq

dotn klnow anything about the RLP

i had an SX12 a long time ago and it was a mean little bugger

had an XXX 15 and loved it too

they are all good choices though

do you want more sq or spl?

what size box/tuning/powa/?

Yes, I'm well aware that those are oldschool specs... that's what I would want. Not only because they are still amazing subs, but because people are unloading them liek WTF for the new ones.

I'm going for more than enough SQ to be very happy as a daily driver.. but I do like the pound of some **** good SPL.

The box, of course, will be decided on after the sub is.

EDIT: and yeah, I really understand what you mean by trying the MX out... that's partly why I'm considering it so highly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Chevy.. have you listened to both?? I'm really interested in someone who's actually heard both and can give a good comparison (I'm referring to comparing RE to SS)

Yeah, I talked to the RE guys and they mentioned that the XXXs (oldschool) were better in SQ than the SXs. I believe that he mentioned the MX was a nicer compromise between the two. It still didn't have quite the power/SQ of a XXX, but it greatly bridged the gap from the SX to the XXX

I might just give SS a call tonight and see if he can sell me on why I should pick up a SS. I have to admit, though the RE guy helped me and answered every question I had, he wasn't exactly that enthusiastic about helping me out.

he wasn't exactly that enthusiastic about helping me out.
mike @ SS sure will be.

hes a hell of a guy.

i would never hesitate from buying form SS again.

my choice would be between the MX and the RL-p. but id take the RL-p, on the sole factor that i can not stand the people i have talked to @ RE.

Nah, he answered all of my questions completely.. even though I'm sure a few of them were noobish...

Maybe he was just bored at work or something.. I can sympathize w/that

To me It would be between the Rl-ps and ID Max...and I would pick the Rl-ps because Mike (SS owner) is a great guy to work with, and I love his products.
+1 to that. love how accurate our RL-p are. very nice sq sub. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
