I like how the 8 inch subs are finally getting the attention they deserved.
Yeah but it seems like beefy 8 inch woofers didn't really become popular until the last couple of years. Sure the 8" L7 and the TC1000 were there but people usually opted for the 10 or 12 or 15 inch version.
8's traditionally dont get a lot of attention because its difficult to design the right balance between a relatively large coil, and adequate suspension to allow for significant excursion. Over the years this has wrongfully translated into people thinking 8's "cant get low" and spawns the argument over fs specs.

Hmm... I agree. there is some degree of difficulty in designing an 8 with an acceptable spider landing. I prefer to use smaller woofers and always have do to cubic volume needed. Ive always had trunked cars and have gotten way better response and numbers by using small woofers in big boxes as apposed to big woofers in small boxes.
