Okay so Im looking to set off car alarms and be heard before seen! All for around 400 bucks, this is what i pulled together, One 15'' Kicker CVX154 (10CVX154) with One Power Acoustik STAX 2000/1D (STAX2000/1D) amp to power it, was thinking to put it in a port box, btw this will be going in the trunk of my car. I believe this amp is rated at 900 watts rms at 2 ohms so i figured it would be ok for the 1000 rms on the speaker and wouldn't have to worry about blowing it.

I dont really know to much about this stuff so if you guys think this will get the job done let me know or throw out some suggestions. That speaker also comes in a 500 rms/1000 peak version, just wondering what the difference would be in sound compared to 1000 rms/ 2000 peak? They are same price so I figured bigger is better? Dunno though...

Pick up two used Type R 12's for around 200, build your own box or get it built.....Buy an Audiopipe 15001d for $150 new....

It will definitely get loud in a good ported box, 4-5 cubes @ 35hz, NO PREFAB BOXES

All in your budget, End of thread...

tryin to set off car alarms with that set up is gonna be hard wat kind of vehicle do you have ^^^^^^statement above would be louder and better in my opinion if your on a budget

Step one, forget about the junk you picked out. Port a decent 15 and tune it to 35. tell us more about your setup. btw running more than 600rms is hard and stupid on stock electrical. Youll want to read into the big three and a decent battery. There are deals on subs and amps of good quality in the for sale section, you wont beat them. Doing what you want for 400 dollars isnt easily feasible. I have a single 12 that gets pretty loud but it took quite a bit of work. youre looking at 200 for a good sub. 40-150 depending on if you make the box or pay someone. 150-200 for the amp, 75 for the wire, and 100 for the battery. Do it right the first time so we dont have to hear you complain when it breaks or sucks.

Im not trying to be an *** but if you come here youre going to get criticized and teased and yelled at till you learn the ropes. Check out BCAE1.com to get some basic infos. i would start with the big three and a decent battery. follow that up with decent sub and box/amp after you KNOW what youre doing.

It'll be sitting in a 2 door cobalt, so limited space, only room for one sub. Ill check out the Type R 12'' and Audiopipe 15001d set up you listed, I think a buddy of mine had two of those in his trunk and I was pretty impressed with em. I would only be able to put one 12'' in though, I'm assuming that with one type R 12'' and a good amp it will still sound good?

If you can fit a 15, go with a Type R 15 D4 on that AP amp...

Type R's are really cheap and get crazy loud for the price....

Get someone on here to build you a box that is close to you and pick it up local.....

Okay so then what is going to be the difference in going with a higher rated rms speaker/amp vs lower rated? Is it going to be louder, hit harder, deeper, I keep seeing all these subs that are the same subs put just different rms/peak rating on them.

What would be an ideal range as far as rms/peak without having to mess around with a new alternator or battery?

P.S. Thanks for the input so far...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

You could do the big 3, look it up on here.....

Use 0 gauge wiring.....

You should have a pretty good battery to back it up as well.....

How hard, deep a sub hits is mostly enclosure dependent....

It just means they can take more power, and most of the time yes they do get louder.....With that audiopipe amp, you shouldn't have to upgrade too much electrical....

Okay so Im looking to set off car alarms and be heard before seen..
Always stupid to start off with this. So because of this you.............

My alternator is just stock, I have no clue what the specs are on it. I think I went a little overboard yesterday though and it doesnt look like ill be able to set off car alarms for anywhere close to 500 bucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif, and I've been looking into some 10'' subs. One of my friends has one in his trunk and it seems to add a good amount of bass that isnt over powering, and barely takes up any room.

What type of specs should I be looking for in a 10'' sub? (rms, wieght, frequency, I have no clue just throw some stuff out if you could)

Maybe if you guys could throw out a reliable amp for a 10'' sub that would suit a stock eletrical system on a cobalt I could go from there?

Thanks :)
