Check out tha BTL

a broken tinsel lead is alway due to overpower
especially when its burnt

so know matter how it happened i think that coil was overheated
The coils look absolutely fine if looking through the vents, also the IMP of the coils is also completely normal, the coils dont look burnt whatsoever, it seems it reached the mechanical ( tinsel ) limits way before any thermal limit was reached

I purchased the sub off a member of this forum, i dont know its history all i know is what happened to it after it got into my possesion, but the broken lead looks really short your correct, i can barely stretch it to the terminal and still have slack
I think you have found the problem. . .

That sub would not have survived on a good clean 1000 watts. Looking at the lead, it was too short. I am going to make a REALLY good guess that lead had already been repaired. It needed to be replaced, but was just soldered back to make a sale. . .

so i dont know if the sub should have overheated at that point
most seem to think not

need to find out how

prolly clipping

what is ur charging system
I have a EA 200 Amp Alt / Big 3 In Zero Guage / Redtop up Front / Kinetik HC2400 in the back for the amp - MTX TA92001 birthsheet of 3800W

looking at the pictures again

and i definately think that it is due to your coil getting too hot

so ur subs r definately overhaeating

find out why, and thats ur answer

and most think sub should not be that hot with that power

find out if thats right and fix the problem

yeah i just dont understand, the coil looks fine through the vents, the IMP of the coils is normal levels, and ive never once gotten it smelly whatsoever, it just got quieter one day while bumping so i took it out and found the broken tinsel, but its never even gotten smelly on me and the coil checks out fine

the smeel that u notice is glue burning
if thats not there u might not notice
i mean if u fry the coil u will smell it but u gotta burn it bad

i mean there nothing there to burn but metal and that has to get hot to stink in a car

especially if u have a trunk

think about brakes on a car, they get hot as hell when u stop 2000 lbs

but u rarely smell them

so if u smell it..... ITS HOT
