Check my box designs

Trying to fit an 18" in the bed of a Dodge Dakota. Unfortunately, I only have 15" of height to work with. Wondering if these designs will perform well, considering the goofy design I had to use to accommodate the diameter.

4th order built to spec, sub seems kinda close to port, and worried about the sub unloading directly into the port and not using the airspace around the port.

Simple ported box, just with angled baffle...

i think you may have issues with the port being angled in your ported design..

both of them look like you may have clearance issues with the motor, may want to take some measurements before trying that...

obviously not to scale and not sure if you have room but just threw it together i didnt extend the port far enough to go into the cab but you get the idea...

this id sell the 18 and do a pair of 12's or a single 15.

or if your cutting the bed for a blow through make the face of the box inside the cab then have it built into the bed.

just saying some people dont realize the obvious part about a 15 inch sub isnt going to fit on a piece of mdf 15'' wide

in other words it was just a "hey in case you forgot" sort of thing

i have thought about doing this as more than a hobby recently because its amazing how dumb the general public is.. but i hate dealing with the ignorance like "why would you point your sub into the back wall of your truck, wouldnt it be louder if it was pointed at your head?"

What is the mounting depth of the 15"? If it is shallow enough, you could downfire into a a forward facing chamber or even downfire into a forward ported chamber( 4th order). Both designs would eliminate any need to "tilt" the sub at all. Or you could flip the design for a higher pass through point into the cab.

Hi hater,

I didn't buy anything yet, I was looking to buy a motor to build an 18". I figured it wouldn't work, but I was just trying to get a second opinion.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean...

Hard to explain without pics, i'm sorry, no way to mock up on this PC. Maybe someone with sketchup has an idea of what i'm saying and will post up a crude version. What is the mounting depth of your sub? I'd like to run some numbers, i know you said you have 15" of height, what width and distance to the wheel wells do you have?
