cheater amps? you tell me....

Oh yea, I've heard ab cheating amps. They say 10k rms but what they dont tell you is that it'll do whatever you put into it. So ppl who go to comps and say, "I'm only running 10k @ 13.8 volts" and it says that on the amp, but they're actually running 30k watts with 24 volts...yea thats def cheating. Its hard to tell b/c most comps only ask how many batts ur running
It wasnt exacly like that. This is why the current rules have changed for most audio events. Back in the day, like early 90s the larger manufacturers would make amps that would say 50wx2 at 4ohms, that was the class you entered. When in reality the amp would run at .5 ohm so it would be more like 400wx2. Thats why now the audio events go by batteries, fuses, cone area etc. But i dont recall anyone running 24v amps

thats not what would be considered a cheater amp actually. it is cheating in a competition to do such and would be a disqualification. that is a moded amp not cheater. cheater amps are amps that are rated one thing and actually produce alot more power than they are rated for but are not moded and are still in factory state. most commonly found in old school high current amps such as the us amps vlx, orion hcca, crossfire hc, etc. like my crossfire 15hc, its rated at 15w x2 @4 but does about 500w when ran at 1 ohm bridged or .5 ohm stereo. in a competition this would be considered a 30w amp.
thats what i was thinking of ok thanks.

What shit did he put in it? I would imagine if you upgraded one part then you would have to do a bunch rest or burn shit up. Also who really cares, nobody goes by power classes anymore. Wattage isnt regarded.

Yep, orion concepts . 1w @ 4ohm my fat arse lol I blew a few subs with that 1w //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i have a couple of older fosgates from 96 like this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I did too I have a few older fosgates and kickers and I think there is still a orion sitting there

orion, mtx, kicker, etc all they did it. They also would SEVERELY under rate the amps
ahhh, the good ol days. they got retarted with numbers thanks to the cheapo brands grossly over rating their amps ans selling them for cheap. 1500w amps for 180 bux lol. now alot of your major manufacturers had to change their numbers to compete. actually even eventually joining these cheapo companies or also making a cheapo procuct themselves. ppi, orion, us amps, hifonics, crunch, earthquake, all of wich do not make the quality product the once produced, some of wich have sold out to cheapo companies.

lets be honest, if any amp company could easily and reliably (sp) double the power from their amps for as cheap as you are talking, dont you think they would have done it and ship them that way already?
