Cheaper alternatives to Rl-i 8's?

I have posted a thread inquiring me wanting to buy 3 Rl-i 8's. Im sure there arent many out there that anyone is going to want to give up. I checked SS's website and they are going for $150 each. I dont see myself spending $450 for three 8 inch subwoofers.

And yes, I know, I know.. You get what you pay for, blah blah blah. Thing is... is I am not into car audio as much as I use to be. I know whats still quality and whats not atleast. I have other things to pay for; bills, truck payment, gas in the gas guzzling Titan, ect...

I have looked into other alternatives such as the Assassins. Great price, just not in the same catagory as the Rl-i's. They will be ran off of a JBL 1200.1 and I would like to get as much out of it as possible.

So are there any other ways to getting these cheaper than $149 a pop? Im not looking to spend anymore than $300 all together.

Tang Band 8's

Dayton 8's

Image Dynamics 8's (not sure if these are below $149)

... do a little searching, and you'll get a lot of info. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

I have been doing some searching. My mind is boggled.

What I am really hoping for, is for someone to say that a member on the board can get the Rl-i's cheaper like other members on the board can do. :-D lol

Not that I know of, other than used - but I've only seen 1 guy selling 3 - and that was on Ebay.

If you have a fixed budget and need to go with 3 subs - FWIW - As th eother poster said, I've also heard the Tang Band 8" sub has very good performance/price. You could get also 3 Crystal CMP8s for about $300. That sub is awesome. It is on sale for about $95/per. That doesn't answer your Rl-i situation, but it may give you an alternative or two.

Edit - you could also opt for 3 Adioques ($89 each), or contact a DD dealer and see what kind of deal you could get on three DD1008s.

If I remember correctly, the crystal cmp8 was very highly ranked in the sq department in the "great 8 challenge". Im pretty sure they were about 150 each at the time, so if you can get them for $95 now that sounds like a great deal to me.

Someone correct me if im wrong.

BTW '66 where are they $95? I may have to take another look at those.

where can i find this "great 8 challenge" ???

Wow, thanks for all of the replies guys. You all are great. I will definatly look into the other options of subs after I read the Great 8 Challange thread.

why not 3 10's?
limited on space or do you just want that "i only got 8's and it pounds bishes" feeling?

LOL to be honest with you, I have never had an 8" setup and I am very optimistic about it, but I have heard they will suprise you.

I am VERY limited on space. No room underneath the back seats of a King Cab Titan. Dont get me wrong, the Titan is HUGE, but they surely didnt design the bottom of the floor underneath the seats for a subwoofer box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
