If all you are looking for is spl with little to no SQ go for the audiobahns..... and no it will not make much difference aside from you will lose a bit of sound pressure due to lask of air space movement.

Turn the gains all the way down and turn your stereo all the way up to the highest you would listen to.... then turn it up one or two notches more......now slowly bring the gain up until you hear a slight amount of distortion......then bring it back down until it is clear and perhaps another notch or so down would not hurt. Now your gains will be properly or should be properly set.
