does shape matter

if the board that you put the subs on is completely parallel to the one directly behind it, the reflection will cancel out some sound. That's why most boxes are trapezoid shaped.

 
myths.. myths... all of it..

if you can fathom the size of a complete wavelength of any sine under 100hz... you'd realize its utterly impossible to have cancellation in such a small area...

There is some logic in ported SPL designs, to get the backwave smoothly out of the box.. but for 99% of normal ported, and 100% sealed installs... build the box however you want..
