If I can find a $50 shipped or less 4-channel that puts out 50w or more actual rms @ 4ohms (2ohm stable) that functions perfectly, that would be awesome. Brand? It would be nice if it weren't boss or Pyle, but hey, I did say cheap. Looks? I don't care. Old school is even fine. 100wpc would be bonus awesome.

A two channel stable at 1ohm would also work, but still rated 50w @4 ohms.

Looking for a noticeable step up in volume from the receiver's power. My eyes are going crossed looking at websites.

Thanks,

Have you already hit your local CL?

I have a cheap 4 ch amp, $50 shipped in the states .... It's an OS Jensen LXA400 4 ch amp ....

Decent little amp for mids/highs. Will do this MINIMUM in your car. As your charging system runs @ 13.4 - 14.2 vdc. And I benched it at 12.6v ....

Actual tested power;

42w RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms @ 12.6vdc

69w RMS x 4 @ 2 ohms @ 12.6vdc

167w RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms @ 12.6vdc

The Jensen LXA400 power bridgeable amplifier is a four-channel, 400-watt total system power automotive amplifier. The LXA400 includes: - RCA inputs. - High-level inputs. - Continuously variable low-pass or high-pass crossover. - Bass boost feature. - Remote turn on/off. - Electronic protection circuitry to protect the amplifier from short circuit. - DC offset and thermal overload. - Unique, super-efficient heat sink design. - 4 x 50 watts RMS per channel (4 x 83 watts peak). - Pass through connectors for adding other amps. - 200 watts RMS bridged into a 4 ohm load. - Bridgeable design to direct full power to 1 speaker. The LXA400 amplifiers's compact design allows greater flexibility in mounting. It can be mounted under a seat or in the trunk.

The amp is rated @ 14.4v and has a THD of .08% @ rated rms

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Jensens have been kind of known to let the magic smoke out. You saying this one is a decent model? Seems like the original price would have been around $50 though. Is $50 a good price?

It's about a 2001-2005 model. It was $120 new.... It's a good amp. I've had it on n the test bench for a few hours here and there ... And that's basically $38 for a good amp and $12 shipping/packaging and handling.... I think that is a pretty fair deal for any amp that will do 50x4 @.08%thd ....
