Dimming lights irritate the hell out of me. I would like to avoid this. I am looking for suggestions to follow before the install. Wattage is low so hopefully you guys can help. I already did a 1/0 on the two grounds. Will do a 1/0 to the + this weekend.

Vehicle is an hhr ss. 140 amp alt. Very small battery in back. Hoping it is ok for a deep cycle boat battery, since I have a new one. Highs are a factory pioneer amp with sound processor. The 6.5 are running 2 ohm. I am guessing 65 rms x 4. Factory sub will be unplugged. Lows will be 500 rms max running to 2 10's at 2 ohm total load.

I know it's not much to worry about. But there are a lot of deer here and dimming lights aren't wanted. Please reccomend what I need to avoid it.

Thanks

VEry important to upgrade boby groung from your battery under the hood to body and from the engine to the body i would use the same ga. wire as your power kit many people don't realize that 12 volts flows from ground to power not the oppisite ,so not having proper ground from the power source such as the battery and alt. that 0 ga. is useless. your technically only have a 10 or 8 gauge power kit because of the factory body and engine ground.

upgrade your big 3 will do wonders.. just replace your batt under teh hood. A decent batt should hanlde that low wattage. Probably dont even need an audio batt just get ya an optima and upgrade the big 3 and you should be more then ok

Ok, thanks. This one is so mild I didn't think I would need much. I have Iraggi alts in everything else. But 250 rms max a piece to 2 10's just seems like overkill for an alt upgrade.I got the big 3 done. Now just have to wait on the paint guy. He is slow as hell. But there is never a bad spot anywhere, so well worth the wait. I will try the optima boat battery since I just sold the boat last week. The battery is 3 weeks old.

The alternator came off my solstice when I went to an Iraggi alt in it. Said 180 amp max @ 1600 rpm, 100 amp max at idle on it so I screwed up. Thought it was 140. These alts are messed up anyhow. They only put out the load required to charge. If there is a drain they put out the amperage required. If not, the way it was explained to me is they do not put out full amperage. Some kind of electronically controlled regulator to reduce parasitic loss and increase life.

I got the blue top optima in this morning. PITA to get the stock one out.

He has it in primer so maybe not too much longer.

14.6 is max charge for headway. 3.65 volts per cell. There should not be any voltage drop from your alternator wiring to battery so 14.8 is too high.
