charging optima redtop battery

due to some parasitic drain my battery got discharged while i didnt use it for a week

jump started the car and drove to work. after i got out of work the car of course didnt start. so i jump started it again. drove the car afterwards for around 40 mins doin grocery shopping. next day the car didnt start again so i went to autozone and got the shumaher charger. checked the optima website and saw that batteries can be charged using regular charges. but then when i try to charge the arrow goes constantly from 75% to fully charged and back. it looks like the battery is refusing the charge because the charger will show fully charged only when the current is less then one ampere. did any1 had any similar experience charging optima batteries?

sounds like the battery is shot.

did you have auto zone test the battery ?

nope i didnt, i think i should have done that.

the car starts fine after leaving it off for about 5 hours, after that i usually experience problems. also i checked the voltage after driving if for 20 mins and then letting it stay for an hour and it was 12.1 which is already low. then i disconnected the battery terminal and let it sit overnight, in the morning the voltage was 11.98. does this mean its not charged enough or this means that it just does not accept charge from neither the alternator or from the standalone charger?

have u checking for current draw while ur car is off? i dunno but it sounds like the battery might be F'd

it dose sound to me like the batt. has a bad cell or something.

auto zone dose test for FREE and they carry optima so you might be able to get it swapped out right there
