Changing government/laws

I've got a project i've been working on for American Government. I've got to come up with some good laws to create or be changed, or how to change how the government works. I've come up with a few so far, but i am running out of ideas. Any of you have any feelings about what youd wish would be changed or added?

And legalizing weed has already been brought up.

I am big propent of the fair tax. Essentially it is a national sales tax. You can find more information on it at fairtax.org. The major drawback to a national sales tax is the they run in tandem with the business cycle. In good times, the coffers are filled, during recession, they are dry as a bone.

But the major help is that each person chooses how much tax they pay because they are prebated the tax to cover necessities. Everything is taxed at 23%. There would be no corporate tax so price would fall about the same amount as tax would increase. I love studying methods and politcs behind taxation. But it is something you may want to consider.

It is never necessary. Raising the minimum wage is a tax on the middle class. The middle class mostly uses business that employ minimum wage making people. Ie grocery stores, fast food, things along these lines. If you raise the minimum wage, you further tax the middle class. Because the middle class has to deal with increased prices, they consume less. Thereby reducing the number of people needed to work in minimum wage paying jobs. Therefore, hurting the same group of people you intended to help.
