Again, this leaves an opening for bashing by those that don't know better. But, the truth is the truth. The math is already out there and it is way the hell beyond Highschool level....lol. Your synopsis is true, but basically you are in charge of just how bad it will ****. If we limit the system to that Level 4 sub, you end up with a relatively spikey response. Some folks dig that crap, but I firmly believe it's because they haven't been exposed to a sub system that actually CAN play a flat wide bandwidth.
Mainly, the engineer I mentioned needs your maximum available dimensions. Something you can build outside and take in and out of the trunk....not have to break or saw into pieces to remove it. He has a fee, as would any REAL engineering service. But for what he does, it's extremely cheap. $57.50 gets you in a LONG line of people waiting to get designs done....folks from around the world. $80 gets you in the "white status" group, which come before all others, but you pop up at the end of that line, however long or short it may be. It is becoming more popular with dealers, who need things done right then and there, so don't count on being up next if you catch my drift. If he gets the dimensions and all the other info, he can tell you if he can salvage the LVL 4 12" or if it just won't do half as well as a number of other subs. Lemme know the max dimensions and I'll relay that info to him for you.
