Chalk another one up for Mean Green

Yeah it seems like they match, they both have 2.0L 4 cyl (mine) and 2.5 V6's. So far all I've found are EA and Iraggi but from what Ive seen about them lately is that they have gotten a little shakey. The one thing I do like about Iraggi is the $99 lifetime warranty/exchange program. This car isn't going to last me forever and the idea that when I sell this car and buy a new one all it will cost me is shipping to get an alt for the new vehicle.
i dont like the idea that you have to pay for a warranty. IIRC he offers a 30 day warranty or some shit on an alt if you dont pay for the warranty.

i mean, WTF kinda shit is that? i spend a couple hundred bucks, and you guarantee it will work for a month, and then im on my own?

mean green publishes a 1 year warranty, with a 300k mile life expectancy on their alts. they also told me over the phone that even if you are past the 1 year mark, they will take care of you on your first alt. now i wouldnt expect that, but i would at least ask, if the situation came up.

Iraggi has a one year warranty on the amputator series, the $99 warranty is an optional lifetime warranty/ exchange program. If I sell my car in a couple years all I have to do is pack up the old alt send it back to him and he sends out a new one for the new car. All it would cost is shipping and if the new alt cost more than the first one the difference in cost would be charged. Just noticed that the same alt is definately on my car, the contour and 93-97 probes.

They took care of me.

Gave me a BRAND new alternator when my pull was shredding belts... it was over a year... and they tried sending me a new pulley... didn't work... so they sent me a BRAND NEW alternator.

They deal with domestics only as far as I know.

straight off the website....

Mean Green manufactures all new high output alternators for AMC, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, International, Jeep, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and many foreign applications.

dom's been great to me. i believe the 240a amputator for my 5.0 explorer was 350ish. when i first got it, the pulley stuck out a bit further than my stock one did, and it kept pulling the serpentine belt towards the front, about 1/4 inch off the side of the rest of the pullies. i let him know about it, he overnighted me a pulley that sat in closer to the alt. said he'd never heard of that problem even though he'd sold alts for many 5.0 explorers, i dont know why mine was different, but he was right on it, grinded a pulley down to work. had it 2 days after i sent the email, no charge.

then after i blew a diode in the alt from asking to much of it (american bass vfl 200.1 @ .5 ohm daily) i sent it in, he fixed it, even though it was out of warranty, no charge for the repair or return shipping.

give me a few minutes and i'll go test the idle voltage drop at full tilt with a kicker kx2500.1 @ 1 ohm.

This is essentially the same thing that happened to me. Mean-Green overnighted a new pulley to me free of charge... then when the second pulley didn't fix it... I sent them detailed pics with measurements... and they sent me a brand new alternator free of charge.

explorer?

dropped to 12.5v at full tilt and idle. is that respectable with my electrical upgrades or should i be looking at my grounds or something? seems a bit low, i wasnt really expecting under 13.

so i probably wont do any better than that without adding batteries?
Adding batteries won't do shit but increase the time you can run your system with your car off.

If you already are NOT dropping past 12.5v on full tilt, then I wouldn't worry about it unless you get more power.
