cdt's or infinity kappas?

CDT's are really nice componet speakers; thats what I wanted, but unfortunatly my compact car has shallow door mounting depth so they wouldn't fit. Infinity Kappas are nice, but go with CDT's; much better.

CDT recently manufactured some of their classic series (bottom of the line, but still great), but the red paint on theme didn't come out right so they marked them down like $170! You can find them at theZeb for $150; nothing wrong with them other than the paint didn't come out right. Note, that they have a 3year warranty (same as Infinity).

i feel like they may be too deep for my 2k2 maxima. what makes cdt so good? ive never heard of them, yet infinity kappas i hear are great and my friend has them so i know how they sound as compared to the cdt's i dont.

There's probably a good chance that they will fit since you have a mid size sedan. Check Crutchfield and/or SoundDomain; although they don't give you the mounting depth, but rather only show you what fits "that they sell". According to my Crutchfield magazine a 2002 Maxima has a front depth of 2.5".

The "speacilty" audio brands are know not to be heard of. For some odd reason BestBuy, Circuit City, and other "chain" electronic stores don't have the better stuff. In my opinion BB and CC are the last place i would go for speakers; i mean you can get something far better than MTX and Rockford for the same price online and not have to deal with salesman. Have you heard of "speacilty" brands such as Boston Accoustic, DEI (Viper), Dynaudio, Image Dynamics, and Phoenixgold?

I don't know why CDT's are better, but they use the finest material, engineers have years of experience (20+), no "marketing gemics" are played here. Unlike the regulare "boom-boom" mass produced audio speakers from Rockford, MTX, Sony, ect...there's no "marketing middle man" that tells how to make the speakers look "cool", so its harder for the engineers to produce a well designed speaker; what i'm trying to say is that CDT's aren't massed produce, "cool" looking speakers rather made well by a company that actuall cares about music reproduction. Have you ever seen how funckly designed Rockford amps are? Have you ever noticed the designes on speaker grills are by Polk, Sony, Pioneer, Keenwood are? They make them look like "rims" or something. Unfortunatly, they also limite there engineers concepts by having theme use cheap material to save money, make them look "cool" wich may intrude on efficent speaker designe. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Oh' yeah; CDT's are very fine looking speakers..... :veryhappy

I get a little "ticky" when it comes to mass produce market brands. Check out CDT's official website: http://www.cdtaudio.com/car_audio.htm

My older brother in Callifornia use to work for Rockford Fosgate engineering speakers. He told me how the industry is (you wouldn't believe everything that i could of told you... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif ). The company basically cared about profits and how something looked, more than how well it worked. He dosn't work there anymore, but now is a engineer for a construction firm (something to do with high rise, and buisnees park computer network systems; i don't know him that much we hardly ever talk. Last conversation was 1 year ago). Makes twice as much than he did at Rockford, plus he has better benefits.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I think something like $130,000 a year (keep in mind that this is Kali).

**** Rockford amps, get Zapco........ :up2someth

yeah i have heard of all those brands before. but i mean what if the speakers blow and the company is out of business or the store? will the speakers fit in my maxima? if they do will they have enough power from a 200 watt amp? otherwise im just gonna buy the kappas from ikesound tomorrow. i just need evidence that cdts are worth the risk.

The speakers don't blow (nore will they blow, three year warranty). Look in the review section at this forum; a couple of people wrote a review on the CDT's and they will tell you they don't. "never distorets even at high volume", "clarity is just amazing"; i think they said stuff like that. CDT has been around for a while, but in the past they manufactured speakers for other companies. They just now are concentrating more on their own speakers. The company dosn't spend millions or thousands on marketing (you know those annoying sony explode adds in car audio magazines, ect...) so they are know purely by word of mouth. There speakers are desingned quite well (even there bottom of the line); in fact there midwoofers are know for the best frequency response. This is a quote from Car Audio & Electronics: "we found that CDT's midrange speakers are so efficient, they can play much higher into the midrange frequencies than almost ANY OTHER CAR SPEAKER! Smooth response to 7kHz - 6 1/2 octave!" ,also: "This makes the blend between the midrange and the tweeter seem almost transparent because it's beyond the troubled range of 2- 4kHz where most systems are plagued with phasing problems between both speakers at the crossover point."

lol...i'm trying to convence you to get CDT's...Thats all it is; the company dosn't do the "marketing gemice" like others. True engineered quality speakers, don't wast there money on comercials but rathe pass the savings on to you. I've heard there $300 componet systems can compete with others in the $700+ range; gosh, cant remember where i read that article..

ok. im convinced. but will they fit in my max? and will my amp have enough power to make them sound good?

According to my Crutchfield magazine your Maxima has a 2.5" depth on your front 6 3/4" factory size; and the CDT classic series with the "bad" paint job have a 6.5" midwoofer with a mounting depth of 2 7/8".

It looks like they wont fit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif maybe with an extension braket or something, but wont be a "easy fit" as i call it. Plus their 6.5" rather than 6 3/4" (7"). I'm sure that cruchfiels measurements are right. If you ever need the mounting depths just go to the official site, usually they will give you the specifecations.

Uh, 200 watt amp as in 100 to each channel right? There recommended at 90watts RMS, so theres more than enough; although if your not going to use there passive crossover then the mids will choke *eh, cough, ehhh eiihg*. Anywase, they wont fit derictly in there without some type of modification, or braket; sorry, i can't help you there.......Hmmmmm,

****, o well. they are 6.5" speakers. the amp is 200 watts peak power. i guess ill decide between the discus mb quarts and the kappas. most likely the kappas though.

also, should i have my amp run only the components, or run the stock back speakers also? or can i run the back speakers off the h/u?

I have a kappas in my car, and let me tell you, they sound nice and they get loud as hell. CDT's are great speakers, but i feel that the kappas are great too. If i were you, either one you get will be loud and clear. If you get the kappas, you won't regret them

you'll be happy with those kappas if as long as you don't get to listen to the cdt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I bought the CDTs, and they barely didn't fit so I sold them and got Kappas. Now I found out with a few washers and a spacer I could have made the CDTs fit and hate myself.

Find a way to make them fit. You will thank yourself.
