CDT HD-62 vs RE XXX comps...

What do you guys think? I'm trying to decide between these, I believe the HD-62 has the DRT-25 tweeter and the satnet-480 crossover with the HD mids. I have heard that both of these comp sets have great midbass and smooth tweeters... which is what I am looking for! Right now I have RE RE comps with Seas neo tweeters and the tweeters are HARSH and the midbass is somewhat non existent. This could be due to the fact that the seas may be more efficient and the passive re crossover is not meant for these but either way... I am unhappy. My doors are sealed but not deadened... I will be deadening them soon. I am running these off of the front channels of a SAX100.4. Which one is BETTER? I listen to mainly rock (avenged sevenfold, bullet for my valentine, disturbed, etc...) but also some rap. I have searched for reviews for the xxx and have not found any that showed anything too in depth.

I heard them before the US Amps buyout, I didnt care for them then, and unless they have been completely overhauled then I still wouldnt care for them
I believe they changed them quite a bit... obviously from a cosmetic standpoint they changed them and they started using neo motors, I hope they are better!

I have had the CDT's and I heard the RE XXX's for a short amount of time. The RE's had a lot of midbass but not good midrange and I didn't like the tweeter.I liked the CDT's a lot better but if I were you I would go with the ES610's or ES620's.They are at Woofersetc. for $299.00 and $399.00.I have been using them for the last year and they are great. You really need well deadened doors to get good midbass from any of these as I'm sure you already know.Good Luck and get what sounds best to your ears.

I've used the ES series CDTs for the last 4+ years and have been quite satisfied. I replaced the midbass with the ES-06+ mid/sub about a year ago and the midbass went from very good to outstanding. I have them mounted in FG doorpods that are actually a bit undersized. The midrange remained very smooth with the new driver as well. The mids would probably make the move to the new vehicle if I had the mounting depth available for them in the doors (no cutting allowed this time around).

What tweeter did you use? Were you satisfied with it?

It's worth mentioning that CDT just built a new HD-6 mid that was released in their HD-62 sets about a week ago. 40% more power handling before cone breakup along with cleaner midrange and midbass. You won't fine the new mids at woofersetc and such sites yet though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
