Hi all, i'm pretty new to this, my headunit has been playing cd's fine up until recently, a few days back i tried putting in an album i brought and it wouldnt play, the disc goes in to the headunit, and then just pushes it straight back out.

The car is turned on and the radio on the headunit works perfectly along with the speakers.

I have tried looking over 15 different cd's out of a large collection and none of them work, i even went out and got a Lens cleaner disc with the little brushes on, and that wont work.

I don't even get a track listing, the cd's are put in, then it just pushes the cd back out again. - The headunit i have is old but is in good nick, and has barely been used, and has been sitting inside my car for the last 6 months inside my garage not in use.

Anyone got any ideas? - has my headunit kicked the bucket? or does the CD lense just need cleaning - if so how do i do it since it wont read cds?

A few weeks ago i was using it and it started to not skip or repeat, but miss out segments of music, literally random cut outs of no music for a millisecond or two, but u could hear it if u listened carefully.

Anyhelp would be much appreciated, my friends all say the lense is just really dirty and cant be read what u think?

Thanks for the reply guys, there isn't a CD inside the headunit, i've checked, it's empty.

Is there anyway of checking the laser e.t.c?

I really do believe that the laser is just dirty, i brought if off a friend Very cheaply as it was a spare he didn't need from fitting a better, newer one, subsequently it had been laying in one of his draws collecting dust for around 6 months, and when i recieved it back in september, it's done exactly the same except it's been sitting in my car whilst off the road. (I've just passed). In cold weather in a garage.

Think condensation could be the problem? or the dust?
