ok doing a cd player install, wired it all up, checked it played music on it for a few minutes then i go to put it in the hole and bolt it in check it one more time while screws arnt all the way tight....not coming on....

i take it all out and its not coming on still, i grap a meter and test the power wire and its not getting any power to it, i checked all the fuses and nothing blown...please help!!!!!!!

Any source that's a constant on 12V......you can use a test light or multimeter and just check the fuses in your fuse box for a constant power source......or run it directly to the battery (i recommend the second option)....some older radios you could power on with both on a switched supply and it would just never keep time and presets for the radio......some newer ones won't do that......you have to have a constant and switched.......

And you do have your amps remote power wire connected to the radio's aux. power or any switched power right?

yeah running straight to the battery with a new wire was what i was thinking of next, too bad its dark outside

what do you mean by the amps remote power wire, im not aware of a remote power wire, just the remote wire from the amp to the HU

That's what I'm talking about.....amp to HU.....just to make sure that you don't kill the battery......I've never done that....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

It carries a small current from the HU to the amp letting it know to turn on and start ******' juice from the battery.....since it carries that small current I call it the remote power

I gotta go home now....work day is ending.......you can send me a PM if you have any other questions or just keep posting on here and I or somebody else will answer

yeah me niether....oh wow look that cool light on the amp stays on when i turn the car off, awesome dood, gotta get me one of them.......

well i guess ill have to try a wire straight to it from the battery, just gotta find where everything comes through the fire wall....if my **** power wire to my amps werent so big i would splice it, ill just run a small one where that one comes through, do a little home riggin and hopefully it works

oh yeah i have 2 wires comming from the plug in to the back of the cd player both are said to be directly connected to the battery is it fine if those are ran as one wire?

yeah i checked them all pretty much, is there one in particular i should be looking for? i only checked them with my eyes

im bout to go out there and try a straight wire to the battery before work, would i need a fuse on the wire, other than the 15 A and 3 A on the wires from the cd player plug?

You almost certainly have a blown fuse. There are usually two fuses that supply power to the radio and the constant fuse often isn't labelled as a "radio" fuse.

Are there any other devices in your vehicle that aren't working? Horn, cigarette lighter, dome light, chimes?

What kind of vehicle is it?

If you straight wire the constant right to the batt. I would definately have a fuse somewhere along the line....preferably as close to the batt. as possible......make sure the fuse is the same as the fuses pre-installed on the radios harness......never go higher because that will pretty much moot the point......but I'm sure you already knew that......
