CD-5000... Playing Sirius?

I have XM right now using it through the Aux connection with an XM SkyFi2. I think I still have close to a year left on the subscription and was thinking about giving my Daughter this setup for her car since she likes Sattelite so much but then I will need something. That got me thinking about my CD-5000 being Sirius ready. Can I use the XM antenna for this?

Which is better... XM or Sirius?

I guess what I should have asked is other than the HU and antenna do I need anything else to get Sirius up and running?

yeah, you need the tuner box setup made by directed, SIRECL-1. comes with a dincable and an antennae. you need to give te tuner its own constant an ground too.

I love Sirius I have it through my CD7000.

Quick breakdown for sirius:

Howard Stern all day long

Playboy channel

they got NASCAR starting next year

the stand up comedy channels are good

if you're into it (HAHA) Martha Stewart has a channel

Eminem has a station

if you're a parrothead Jimmy buffet has a station

Maxim magazine has a channel

I love it, my buddy has XM since like the day it came out, after a recent trip in my car he's switching, probably sooner than his subscription ends. It just depends what you're into.

actually maxim is just guy stuff, however your statement is quite true for the playboy channel

That sucks then. No use in shelling out even more dough to set up for Sirius. I kind of figured I would need to buy all new crap again. I guess I will just look around for a cheap unit to put in her car used for the XM.

if you really want to try it out, there's a bunch on ebay, if you buy used tho you have to make sure the previous owner closes their account on that particular box, or they won't turn it on for you
