Careless driving ticket...Should i fight it?

Ok so the other day i was on my way out of town(small town) and my friend pulled up next to me in the 2 lane going about 30-35 or so in a 35 then for fun i floored it for a little bit and pasted him then he did the same and we were next to each other till about 55-60 when we both let off and immediately that was a cop with the cherries on behind me. So then i pushed on my brake and pulled over. He said he was issuing me a $86 citation of careless driving for drag racing. His radar wasn't on and he didn't seem to know how fast i was going but said because we both accelerated at the same time is why i am receiving a citation. I am 17 and this is my first ticket. What do you guys think? Would it be worth it to try and fight it? Would it be possible to win? Any help or comments would be great?

And how does a ticket like this affect insurance?

Probably won't effect your insurance but if you fight, you probably won't win. But there is no harm in trying. It doesn't cost you anything except your time to fight it.

driving school or fight it its a moving violation and it will affect ur insurance

we all do stupid shit, i would say you got off easy and just pay the tix. The cop could have gotten you for reckless driving which is a mandatory court date

costs us a court fee to fight it. only $20 or so but there is still a fee.

wouldnt be surprised if it affected your insurance either.

to make matters worse there is a high probability you wont win. dont need a radar to see two people racing.

It wont effect your insurance, if your state is anything like ours.

They sometimes throw us with that, instead of speed, so teh county/city, can get all teh money, instead of a cut.

The court cost will probably be the same as the processing fee. In VA it's $56. If you fight it and lose, you'll pay the same price as not fighting it at all. As long as you don't get a lawyer.

I did this except the car beside me was an undercover charger.....I was lucky and only got a 20 over speeding ticket which I did not argue about

I wouldn't fight it, its your word against the cop's. You'll lose.
