okay here's the situation, I've been installing my system piece by piece for the last couple of days now. First i ran 1/0 guage wire from negative battery to ground, i tested the car and it worked fine. Then i ran my power wires, 1 4 guage and 1 8 guage to the rear of the car. tested it and the car worked fine. Then i began the installation of the HU. I took the stock out, wired the new wires and connected to the HU last night and the car wouldnt start. So i let it sit over night, finishe my installation which includes a HU grounded to the chasis, 1 foot of 1/0 guage neg. batt to chasis, a run of 4 guage, a run of 8 guage, and the pioneer ipod adapter, grounded and everything. I never powered the amp or the sub and the negative battery terminal was off the whole time i was installing until i tried to test the car to see if it runs. I've tried jumping the car and each time i do it it will start, and run for like 4 seconds and cut itself off. What did i do??? help!

EDIT: My car is a 2000 jeep grand cherokee.

I am trying to understand, but having hard time so let me ask this first:

You have 1/0 guage from the neg but only 4 and 8 guage from the power? If so the is mistake 1, do you have everything fused? Check your fuse box under the hood and in the car, perhaps to much current draw from the amps, what size alt? Stock battery? So many problems, when it didnt work the first time is when you should have stopped, give more details and perhaps we can pin point the problem.

Also send a pm to a mod an ask them nicely to move this to the proper location.

yea someone should move this, but anyways you had your batt terminal off right? Does your car have a grey head key? If so then you probably accidentley reset your computer. A grey head key has a chip in it. Which means you will have to get your car towed to a dealership and they have to reprogram your key to the car. Or if its supposed to have a grey head key and you are using a spare or something that is a regular key without the chip it is shutting off because it thinks its being stolen

yeah it has a grey head key. what does that have to do with it, i had disconnected the neg. batt. terminal before and it worked when reconnected.
