so my car randomly wont start yesterday.... i have a brand new red top battery, new alt, new starter and wire upgrades.. i tried cleaning the little corosion that was on my wires, and that didnt help. cables are tight in every place.. battery has juice still... someone said i might have melted a wire from my fuse box(s)... my caution lights work and thats it.. NOTHING works. even when i turn my key to the point where everything on the dash should light up, nothing lights up.. not even the horn works and it should. i replaced ALL the blown fuses... does anyone have an idea why it might not start?????????//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Electrical part of the ignition switch (usually in or under the steering column), i've had to replace a few before. Its worth checking out, but they don't go out all that often.

so a wire probably burnt up somehow??? i was playing my system for about 5 minutes but nothing happened out of the ordinary and didnt smell any burning. but ill give it a look for sure. thanks!

What voltage is your battery resting at? If it is below 10.0v, you probably ruined that Red top. They are not meant to be deep cycled. Are the Kinetiks in back holding a charge? You need to pull the NEG- wires from a battery to test the resting voltage. Check the resting voltage of each battery and report back. Chances are one of them is toast.

check the fuses in your engine compartment, not just the fuse panel inside the car assuming you have both. a major fuse is blown since your horn will not work either or the cable from battery to fuse panel in the engine compartment is loose. what car is it?

i already replaced all the blown fuses.. well there are a few under the hood that arent normal looking fuses. im not sure how to test if they are blown or not...

and as for the battery problem above ^^^ i havent actually metered the voltage but the battery does have juice in it.. ill test that out today i guess. .

Ignition switch is bad...They go out with no warning just all of a sudden nothing radio all accesories work but it wont let the car turn over..

well you worded that wired but nothing works period.. like no radio no accessories will turn on at all... so it could be that ignition switch but iono.

the kinetiks arent even in the car yet.. i am in the process of ordering them.. so i only have the redtop hooked up... how do i test the reseting volts? just take off the negative the put it back on and see what its at ???

I thought the batteries in your sig were installed. Yes, simply remove the NEG- wires from the battery and then hook the DMM to it. You remove the NEG- wires to remove any load from the battery. If you had a parasitic drain somewhere in the vehicle that was dropping your battery voltage, it would be removed from the equation as soon as you remove the NEG- wire from the battery.

haha. yea.. its all still a working progress. the only thing i really need to throw in still is the batteries and some extra runs of wire. anyways... and alright, ill do that test... if that battery is shot it shouldnt be a big deal cuz it has a warrenty on it.

Well, don't even mention anything to do with car stereos when you try to get a warranty on that battery. Using it in a vehicle with car audio voids the Optima warranty.

i know.. and im not trying to get a warrenty on it. it already has one...
