Car insurance question

I have statefarm insurance, and they offer discounts for good grades. well long story short, I had to put a class on my grade report so my dad wouldnt go crazy, well my real gpa is a 2.6, bu I fixed it up to say 3.0. I know, stupid. But try livin with my dad and school. Well, he told my mom to fax the grades to statefarm, do they verify that with the school? And if so, do they send a letter or call you?

If it is something where your mom faxes it over and signs it or whatever then probably not. I would imagine that would be private information regardless and probably not something state farm would let out unless you signed a waiver.

shes faxing the actuall sheet i got in the mail to our insurance lady. so your saying they dont check with the schools records?

They don't check it, don't worry.

I submitted a VERY fake report card for a friend... he has a 1.6 GPA, I gave him a 3.6... and he's getting a great discount.

But, next year I'll have to mockup his grade to say he's in 12th for when he's still in 11th grade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I have no clue what they actually do but my guess would be mommy or daddys signature would be 'proof' enough with them though I have never used state farm.

As for checking the records I would imagine state farm has a lot of better things to do then deal with saving people money on insurance for nothing and it is probably also private information so unless someone (if you are over 18 you) signed a waiver then they probably can not actually check I don't think... Again could be totally wrong just my guess.

Just make up some BS story and have it ready just incase.

That actually affects whether you should get the discount. If they find out, they could hit you with insurance fraud. Maybe?

We sent one in to our insurance once. I had changed a grade from a low B to a higher B. It didn't affect whether I would recieve the discount or not, but they never called me out on it.

They cant release your grades...unless you give them permission...

If they do, worse case scenario, your dad finds out and whoops your ass for lieing to him and you dont get your discount

they cant even release grades to insurance companies? you know this is a college right? couple guys didnt

do colleges have to ask my permission to release my grades? even if its to a insurance company?
If I were you I would just be careful, it is possible you are going to be up against federal insurance fraud charges. Seeing as you are in Chicago would it be possible for you to head to Canada and lay low for a while to see what happens.

I am not sure if they would try and extradite you from Canada for such charges or not but if they did you could always fight it.

If I were you I would just contact the school and let them know as the sooner the better and you have much better chances of seeing better results if the feds do not have to get involved.

Do some searching on the web about the kid that pulled this on Geico they sent dog the bounty hunter after his ass to MEXICO! Dogs wife Beth smothered him with her pancake ******* and they brought deerhunts GF for backup!
i didnt do it. i made up the grades couple weeks ago, without knowing my dad was gonna give them to the insurance. So now hes doing that, and i cant tell him its fake.

I thought a long time about doin this, saving me around $60 bucks a month but never ended up doin it. Anyone know what the penalty is on this for sure or anybody that has got caught. Saving $720 a year would be nice and my cars system would be phatty

my goal wasnt to do this. it was to simply keep by dad off me about my grades. i didnt expect him to give it to our insurance for the discount

you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

tell your dad to call the college and ask what your GPA / grades are; they won't give it to him.

You have to sign a form called a FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) in order for family or anyone really to get your grades besides you. Discussion of grades in college are a BIIIIG deal; most professors will not discuss your grades with you through email unless you give them written permission. No one is legally allowed to give your grades to your mom, dad, spouse, dog, whomever, and definitely not your insurance company.

The only way a public institution could give out your grades is through a federal subpeona (sp?), and no insurance company is going to go through the trouble, and they probably wouldn't be allowed to even if they tried.
