Everyone, thanks a lot for all your responses. It's honestly much more than I expected, being a complete newbie with this as my only post on this forum.
the XS65's are awesome.... no need for 2 pairs, if you want loud, use the midbass and get a set of ID horns, should keep up with subs no problem.
as far as the rest of the stuff, I would be looking at IDmax for a little more cash and personally avoid the punch. lots of other great amps out there and many of the RF have eq boosts built in.
If I were you I would PM 6spdcoupe - I think he is in NJ, is a great guy and if you are looking to spend that kind of money he could set you up with a killer system.
So one pair of XS65s in the front, what about the back? I'm looking at an ID brochure and I've never seen anything like their HLCDs .. would I put them in the rear deck?
I'll shoot him a PM. It's not that I'm looking to spend that much, that's just what I was quoted. When they broke it all down, my first reaction was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif but I was polite and just said "thanks, I'll have to look into it" .. then first thing today I posted on this forum and a Honda forum I spend time on to get some opinions.
BTW you guys, he hasn't got butt ***** yet. He made the smart choice by letting us help him out. Obvously budget isn't a problem with this guy....we can team up, and actually educate someone, and there will be one helluva system in his vehicle when we're done with him.
Hehe, thanks. It's nice to see that people like you are willing to help out. Money kind of isn't a problem because I just started a new job and I have very few bills, so that means a lot of expendable cash .. but I don't know if I want to spend a lot on car audio. I thought the system they worked out for me was a bit overpriced and you guys more than confirmed it.
I went to a high-end shop because a 'simpler' shop installed the system in my old Ford and did a crap job for $300. I figured I'd pay a little more for a top quality installation. Looks like I'll do a lot more research and pick out good components and see if I can work with someone on here to get it installed.
By the way, what do you guys think of Audio Controls (any of their 5 models) vs. Re-Q5?
edit: I forgot to add .. When I was at the shop yesterday, they showed me a system they installed in an RDX and it absolutely blew my mind. I think it had Image Dynamics speakers and amplifier ($1500 for a 5ch amp!! wtf) and Audio Controls processor. The 10" sub they had in a custom enclosure in the side of the trunk kicked harder than the two 12s in my Ford. That system cost the owner about $6500 installed so when I told them that I can't spend that much but would like a system sort of like it, they came up with the stuff I put in the first post.
