no.. best way to do it is get a battery and a batter charger(mach amp output accordingly)

actually you were right the first time, the battery would act as a capacitor/buffer of sorts for high amperage draw that the battery charger's switching FET's possibly couldnt handle without.

when i was young i ran my old rockford bd1500 off a 10amp battery charger and an old battery i found in the shed... never had a problem with it

The ghetto-fied way to do it? Gel cell and a fast charger, as said before. Using regular lead acid batteries indoors isn't the smartest idea around...

The right way to do it? Use amplifiers designed for 120VAC...

$100 wont buy much of a home amp unless you're talking going the PE route...
