Hey I just got an 05 Grand Prix GT and I'm putting the audio from my old car into this car

x2 12in MTX 5500's

Alpine ida-x001

Kicker 750.1 amp

Profile Baja 600x4 (cheap but has worked great for 4 years)

Tsunami 10 farad (kicker)

Tsunami 5 farad (profile)

Optima redcap

this is coming out of a 93 old's 88

I bought the Onstar bypass for aftermarket radios

I also got a 160 amp Bosch alternator to replace oem

I am also going to do a second battery in the trunk

my question is..

This car has a lot more advanced electronics in it is their a HUGE risk of me frying anything?

I have an 08 and trust me you really cant fry anything. I did my own alarm and remote start, radio and system etc. it's really easy to work on if you know where stuff goes. If you need help with anything let me know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I am paying a local place to install the alarm for me its a Viper 5900 with 3 sirens 1/w battery backup that's all they are installing. I'm going to install the proximity, shock, and hood pin myself also going the audio the guy is only charging me $100 (I had to pay some one to do it or it will void extended warranty)

I love this car got its with 29k on it and its the sleeper GT with the s/c 3.8 I was trying to find a GTP w/ Comp G but could not find one with low enough miles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

06 GP owner here.

160amp alt is not a huge upgrage from stock. Mine was 140amp stock and its not a GT.

By far loudest set up is forward firing sealing the trunk. Your ***** rez freq should be 47hz. The more you deaden things the lower it drops your peak freq. In my experience anyway.

What alty should I use? I can only find the 160 amp Bosch alternator.

whats a good company to look at..

Sell the caps do big three and get a new battery

edit: And that 140 amp alt should be fine I only have a 110 and im running 1k at 1 ohm with no dimmage and a stock battery

I got mine from http://www.highoutputalternator.com they don't list it when you go through the catalog. Call and ask.

I got a 220amp alt from them almost a year and a half ago and has never failed on me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

for gods sake when installing everything disconnect the battery.

i think ive read at least 3 threads in the last couple days of people frying things because they were stupid and installed with the battery connected.

remember the simple things and dont cut corners and you will be fine. take your time and check, recheck all connections.

IMO stock alternator will be fine do big3 put a good battery up front ditch the caps and be done.

750rms sub amp shouldnt require an extra battery and bigger alternator
