car audio magazine worth $15 ?

Waaaay back in the day, I had a subscription to CA&E for MANY years straight. I dropped out of the scene for quite a while and recently picked up another sub, thinking it would be the same level of quality information, but was disappointed. I've barely opened the last 2 issues. There are still some really good articles, some times, and periodically excellent technical information, and very experienced editors/reviewers, but I have to say that it's not as much a value as it used to be. The annual Directory issue in June (I think it used to be April, many years ago) can be quite an excellent resource though!

I dunno... the installs and pictures are gorgeous and generally not like what you see chatting in a forum or visiting a shop. So, it may certainly still hold a significant value to you if you're into car audio.

Yes, there are a LOT of ads! Too many for its content, in my opinion.

The tech advisior that answers all the questions in the beginning of the mag... is an idiot.

'there is no way to get an accurate measure of a fiberglass box...'

Bullshit, has he never heard of packing materials, or using peanuts, and then measuring what it took to fill it up!?!?!?

I do enjoy their 'head to head' features, though. They're usually brutally honest... as in the crossfire/interfire 600D challenge. They stated from the beginning that the interfire was not a suitable build as far as s/n is concerned...

All reviews in them are paid for. None of the real interesting internet companies make it in there.

To any Jornalism people out there into car audio, there is a demand, now supply.

BTW: Your name is duckfart, thats hilarious

Demand is almost non-existent in my city.

Every magazine carrier has stopped carrying CA&E and all other mobile electronics publications completely. One of the Hastings super-stores gets a few in periodically.

Another news stand super store carries hundreds of publications that sell none or just 1 per month, but they keep getting them just to tout that they have the most diverse selection -- yet, they stopped carrying car audio mags of all sorts more than a year ago.

The Internet has taken over the demand for these printed mags. But some times, it's nice to have something to flip through in the bathroom. For me, though, it's usually a computer mag.
