Car audio amps work well with home audio?

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif i guess a power inverter of some sort? I dont know, i've never built my own home setup before, so im kind of up on the air on this one. Maybe i'll just get a plate amp.

plate amps it is, i guess the HT system will have to wait til after x-mas tho, i will need more funds! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the system is going to be 4 of those cheap Ed 12's, im gonna build two ported towers and put 2 12's in each.

Ive tried this before. Went out and bought a 50amp DC power supply (like $150), hooked up a couple 10" subs to a modest amplifier (like 200 watts), and I could barely turn the piece of crap up before the power supply would cut out.

Point is, getting a DC power supply large enough to supply that sort of current... is expensive. You are much better off just buying a 120v amplifier of some sort and using it.

Simple battery chargers are not a good idea, for more than one reason. Unless you get a pricey one, they do not monitor the battery for over charging. id hate to create a lead-acid bomb in my livingroom. Secondly, vented lead-acid batts give off poisonous fumes when being used. Not a huge concern in a house, but just another reason to avoid the whole 12v amplifier in your house setup. Its not simple, its not cheap, and it can get messy.
