car amp as house amp..

Hey there PioneerSPL1990 i noticed that you have the step up version of my sub. what do you think about that sub was it worth the money? It probably is.

You "can" connect car stereo equipment up in the house, the question is why. You will need a very large DC power supply (read VERY expensive) to convert the 110 AC to 12V DC, so the bass amp can reconvert it right back to a higher voltage. A costly and inefficient process. Why not just get a reasonably powered plate amp and be done with it.

two high powered computer power supplies might work thats what im thinking of doing. but you have to crunch some number to make sure your not going to overdraw on it.
i did this and it worked well. that is until one of the power supplies shorted and electricuted me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

to answer your question cwatts2oo8 you take a 12v power cord that you would normaly use to power a cd player and hook the positive wire to your positive on your stereo and if yours is like mine i had to hook the yellow wire to the positive as well then hook your car stereo negitive wire to the negitive 12v power pack wire. then hook your speakers up and now you have your car stereo hooked up in your house. the only thing is im not sure how to hook up the amp with out over powering the wall surcuit. if some one can help me with that I will give you a cookie.

You can call me what you want I know first hand that it does work and i do know what i am talking about. i can upload A video to anyone who doubts me. My stereo is running off of a 12v power cord and my ampp is running off of a 500w psu.

about the power supply. you take pins 14 and 15 and clip them from the main harness connect those two together then you take the cord that has only two little pin plates branching of of it use the 12v yellow wire as your amps positive and one of the black wires as your ground. one of the black wires does not work so you will have to test each one. again I can take video footage if any one wants to see it actually done. ps all you haters: all im doing is trying to help. that is what these forums are about. this is exactly how I learned how to do this as well as you tube videos.

OH YA, in case you don't know witch pins 14 and 15 are. take the harness that has the wire protection on it (main harness) face the latch towards you start from the right bottom row and count over towards the left 4 spots this one should be your green wire (14pin) the one to the left of that one should be a black wire (15pin) these two wires are the ones that give power to your psu. you want to clip and connect those ones. http://www.duxcw.com/faq/ps/ps4.htm

I got my 40 amp battery charger for $150 brand new and i got 2 650 CCA batteries for cheap also. How can you say its a inefficient process ??

My house stereo is way louder than anyone's house stereo i have ever heard. It moves people's hair when sitting on my coutch and it even open my house windows about a inch when I'm listening to music. It also flexes my living room and kitchen walls so bad it has push the finishing nails out of the studs. This is all done by a visonik V159D6 sub in a sealed box with 750rms driving it.

I HEAR YOU THERE. AND I HAD MY ELECTRONICS SETTING AROUND THE HOUSE NOT BEING USED. I ALSO WANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE YOUR SUB AT THE 6 OHMS OR DID YOU RUN IT ANOTHER WAY? I HAVE TO SAY THOUGH THAT IF YOU RUN YOUR SUB AT 6 OHMS THEN YOUR PRETY MUCH THE SAME AS A HOUSE STEREO. MOST HOUSE STEREO'S RUN AT 6 TO 8 OHMS. 2 AND 4 OHMS CAN HANDLE A BIGGER LOAD THAN 6 OR 8 OHMS. YOU CAN I THINK RUN YOUR SUB PARALEL TO GET 3 OHMS. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG. HOWEVER THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON WHAT OHM YOUR AMP PUTS OUT THE MAX THUMP.
