capacitor question

Probably not that fast. Did u try charging it again the correct way? If not, try and charge it up and let it sit for a while and see if the voltage is dropping off. It should not drop off very much at all over good long period of time.

it shouldnt of gone that fast...did it have some type of saftey mekanisim to reset i dunno but ive put caps in backwards for electronic stuff before..but they didnt go that fast.

As long as you didn't power it up directly to the battery it should be OK. Charging through the resistor they give you should limit the reverse current to a safe value. Connecting them directly to power backwards usually blows em up good.

How are you judging that it "doesn't work"?

I dont think you blew it that fast either. Usually when you hook them up backwards you have a few seconds before they blow a seal on top and start to leak fluid. If that happens then yes it is shot to hell. But if it didnt leak anything then no I dont think you blew it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

No, just seen enough of them die from reverse voltage to know that under most cases, a good backward shot will destroy it. If the electrolytic gel didn't come out of the plug, it may still SORT of work, but chances are you damaged some of the plates in it.

Yes he has a point, it may not work as it should but if it didnt leak it will still work somewhat but may not have as much capacity afterwards.

well i used the charger thing that it came with and it was hooked up wrong for about 20 min, no fluid came out and it might be working but all i know is that digital display does not go on.

Yup sorry to say but if it was hooked up that long then it is fried. The only thing you can do is maybe take it back and see if you can get it exchanged. But chances are it is fried. Sorry:(

No Prob. But you might also look and see since it is digital to see if it has three posts on top. Two for the battery hookups and a 3rd for a remote turn on for the digital voltmeter. If it has one then try running a wire from the battery + to the turn on post if it comes on then try it and see if it works. If it does when hooked up right and charged right then who knows it might work.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Its worth a try.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
