Capacitors can actually be useful, just not for the reasons they are marked for.. For example, they can, in some circumstances, filter out weird noise that comes across the +12v wire. Also, some of them have cool voltage meters so you can see if you are experiencing any voltage drop when your bass hits.

Your amplifier already has caps in its input stage. And those nifty voltage gauges on external caps just add unwanted resistance to a component whose internal resistance already makes its usefulness suspicious.

I've heard of SQ systems having them on their front stage amps. I was told they use them as a voltage conditioner, to keep the input voltage smooth and prevent any spikes. Never got into SQ so I'm not sure how much truth there is to this theory.

Ok guys, I'm finally going to buy the second battery... How big should I get? I do want to handle full power of my type x sub and type x speakers that I'll buy sometime soon....

Is the HC600 good enough or should I get a bigger one?

Get the biggest one you can afford. The HC600 is great in place of a few capacitors, but something larger like the HC1400 is much better and in the event that you add more to your system you'll already have a larger battery. If money's an issue then spend the extra $20 and get the HC800.

Well I can spend a bit more than 20 bucks on a new battery...

But with my current setup and plans, how many amps should I be aiming at?
