ok...about 4 months ago.. I was reading about a lot of sq head units. I found the one I wanted. and now I was going to get it...ok..after 3 or so computer formats, I seem to have lost what the deck was. I know it was a Clarion with the brushed aluminum face. had 6 pre outs..24bit..and cant remember what els....it was old too but still sold. I think it was like $200...not the best thing out there...but it fit my needs. I hate all these new bling bling decks out now..

and if I don't find it...what are some other decks with ok SQ for under $300?

not using the internal HU amp and not going to us an ipod or any of that crap..

Pioneer Deh-880Prs great hu and can be had around 3 bills

There are some used Eclipse hu's in your price range in the classifieds.

Possibly a Nakamichi hu not sure on prices but I do kow they have excellent SQ

It sure isn't a $300 deck though.... The DXZ775 is a fairly decent budget substitute that is though. It's competitors are the CDA-9887 and DEH-P880PRS and CD7100.... Of those, the 9887 and 880 are probably the most popular SQ contenders.

ya..not those two..both to new...I think it would be about 2 years old now....but how is that DXZ775USB? and no way I'm putting the DRZ9255 in this car.....I think it might have been the older brother of the DRZ9255 or at least Clarion Pro audio line.

EDIT: just remember it had CeNET capability also

If you're going rock-bottom budget, I wouldn't be afraid of the 775 at all for a 24bit active capable head unit.. It's no P9, but from all the reviews I've read, it's a fairly decent little head unit, and the least expensive unit with network capability (to run a front 2way and sub fully active).

Why not just get the 9887 and be done with it? That one's gonna be tough to beat. You can get 'em on ebay for less than $300.

Can you use the imprint with the 9855? If not, I'd still recommend the 9887.

Yeah, WY is a nice place. My family and I moved from Cheyenne in '04 as I retired from the Air Force and had to move to get the job I wanted.
