Beatin' the block down
Well, looks like there have been quite a few Avalanche builds lately, so here is mine.
System:
Hu:
Eclipse 7200mkII
Mid/highs:
DD C4a (active)
DD AW6.5
DD AT28
Hell of alot of Damplifier Pro
Sub:
DD 3515E (pair) D1.5 w/ 6" CF-caps
IA 20.1...for now, DD amp(s) coming soon
Box:
Series tuned 6th order
Plenty of wedges
Baffles
Set the box together for a quick look at the layout, not shot together and glued yet. Still have t router a few edges like the ports and back wedge.
Forward port is 12"w x 17.5"t. the 45's the lead up to it will have some ~7" extensions unto the cabin to allow for an amp/batt-rack just behind the seats in the Avalanche.
Likely going w/ 2 Deka 9a31's, one on each side of the port. Batts will likely be hidden, amps recessed.
I need to decide on a color to paint the interior of the box. My trucks interior is grey, so i'm thinking about painting it grey also...that or black. If its black, I may do some lights so you can see the ports.
What do you think? What color?
I'm shooting the box together now, should be don't in about an hour. May start the amp/batt-rack today too.
Awhile back, I ran the #'s for SuperGumby's box w/ the 4 DC15's. My calc's said it should peak at about 38hz and still have flat responce, I think he peaked right at that freq. I designed mine along the same style of response.
I'm trying a little something new w/ my in-vehicle response calculations. Hoping the actual response will be close to this:
30hz + 4.1 dB
35hz + 4.9 dB
40hz + 3.6 dB
45hz + 3.6 dB
50hz + 2.1 dB
55hz + 1.2 dB
60hz + 0.0 dB
65hz + 0.1 dB
70hz + 0.7 dB
75hz + 1.5 dB
80hz + 2.7 dB
So, I'm hoping for a good boosts in the 30-45hz range and have it flatten out over 50-80hz. Low pass around 80-100hz should help level out the high freq.
If my calc's a within +/-1dB...and I'm REALLY hoping they are, I may be onto something here. I got close w/ Gumby's box...tweaked the calc's a little for this one.
Also, have this in mind. My only time metering w/ this truck was w/ a DD2510 in a halfassed 6th order. That did 144.x @ 47hz.
If this is a complete bust...oh well, I'll try again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
