This is a BS score... I got the same 5.9 on disk data transfer rate with a 15000 rpm drive on my $10,000 work machine. It's more of a beast than most servers give me a break MS oh and a 7.8 with a 12 core processor gtfo

EDIT although I was dual logged in with ArcGIS running in the background and running adobe updates lol

I thought you needed a 8 core cpu to get a 7.9 for that, so not sure why you only got a 7.8.

My 7.8 is a 2600K @ 5ghz.

Not sure what you need to get a 7.9 on HDD. My 7.8 is an intel 510 SSD.

pretty sure if you just double your vcore you'll get double the speedz.

Intel Xeon X5650 (x12) [yes 12 processors@ 2.67Ghz each]

12GB RAM

T5500 Raid 0 Configured 2 TB 15000 RPM HDDs

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate

2 NVidia Quadro 4000

and it scores a 5.9...yeah

i think a mechanical hdd, even in raid wont score above 5.9

Can't use SSD in our work application. Not near enough space (not economically at least) and no feasible backup.
