Can you Insure Car audio equipment?

my dad is up my *** for buying audio shit for my car.

He is telling me someone is just going to smash my back window (hatch)

reach in there and steal all my crap. Now i have a decently dark tint, but you can still see the amp kinda, is their anyway i can insure this stuff or will it be to expensive?

another thing is their just some sort of alarm i can put like window sensors or something?

what do you people do to not get jacked ect?

Yes you can insure it, call your insurance company

btw you will need reciepts of your equipment.

from what I have heard, some do and some dont? What insurance company you got? If you have a "name brand" company [ie. geico, state farm etc.] they will for sure.

Keep receipts/pics of everything, make sure its reasonably bolted down, then call your insurance company to add extra coverage for the total of your car audio additions to the vehicle.

yes, its rather cheap. Call them and ask for a rider on extra equipment. Anything not installed in a stock location will need a reciept. It should cost like $3 a month or so... It isnt too bad

I belive I have Cincinnati Car insurance, but i live in indiana? who knows...

I guess i could call and ask, but i wont need to know until spring. They already charge me out the @$$ for being 16 and driving a red firebird, so expensive. if its $3 a month than that shouldn't be bad. if i buy used stuff (amp) and don't have the receipt it cannot be covered?

just make sure the buyer give you a receipt for your purchase new or used. As mentioned as well, keep paypal transaction receipts etc.

I am at the same position I have alot equipment they need a receipt, pictures. My problem is am I insuring the installation or equipment? I have a car show install.It is mad expensive in my case.

Different insurance companies do things differently.

I didn’t need a single receipt. But, I did have to take my car up there and they took pictures of it all. They also told me to give them a list of all equipment used (down to the wiring) and an estimated price. They keep this on file. I think I pay about an extra $50/year for $5k coverage.

Matter of fact, I need to take a revised list to them and have them snap some new pictures.

As long as you trust your insurance company, you’ll be fine. Just do what they ask you to and make sure you explain what and why you want the extra insurance.

Prior. I was able to insure cost of install & aftermarket equipment with receipts and pic's that the install and equipment was properly secured (bolted) to the car in some way or fashion.
