Can I sue for being arrested for something I did not do?

Hello everyone,

I have a situation I need some help with. I’m honestly at a total loss when it comes to Legal Issues and now I’m in serious hot water.

About a month ago a lady reported to the police that I was masturbating while driving in my jeep (not guilty). I was arrested when I pulled in the hardware store to pick up landscaping materials. The officer said she called and reported my license plate. The officer did ask her to come back by to ID me and she did. Went to court and the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence and the lady literally changed her story 3 times! While in court I find out that she had access to my personal information: (Job, address, phone numbers, ect.) witch really pissed me off. Yet I did not know who she was until the trial. I am very worried that she called and reported this incident to my job because I work with kids. I am thinking about a suing her for damage expenses (bail, lawyer cost, impound, ect )

On top of that I received a call from a co-worker yesterday saying that the incident was in a local newspaper. As I read the article I noticed that it mentions what school I work at, subject I teach, the make/model car I drive, the arresting picture and contact to my job was attempted. The article did not mention that the case was dismissed. Because of this incident I fear that my career is in jeopardy and I may loose my job.

Can I sue for being arrested for something I did not do?

Is this considered in any way slander or defamation of character?

Is it possible to get the article reprinted with the entire story?

Do I have a case? Or should I just cut my losses and move on?

What can I do?

HELP!!

BWAHAHAHA...

sorry, but this is by far one of the funniest threads of the year...

Sue that beotch for defamation of character or something frivilous like that... but your name will never be cleared. Even if it is reprinted (which I highly doubt it will, as people dont give a shit about that), people already have a bad opinion of you. It sucks. After something like that I would move out of town... but I realize thats not as easy as it sounds.

sounds like slander, but ask an attorney.
and why did she report you? theres got to be more to this story.
These are the actual events that happened. Its sounds sooooooo unbelievable but I’m living it and its stressing me out. I have no idea who this lady is (no name. no nothing. the cops and the news paper said it was a lady) I have no reason to lie about this. Just seeking advice on what to do and if a lawsuit is necessary.

man that jacked, my mom (attorney) said you can but it would be hard to prove it
so call a local one and see what you can do

So just out of the blue, a random lady reported you were jackin off while drivin.

Question, I thought cops couldnt arrest off of hearsay in situations like this? Because anyone could just say anything about anyone at anytime and just have them arrested for revenge?
