A lot of others can give you much more advice than me and i'm sure some will chime in, but in general i believe that in car stereo we tend to stay away from deep cycle batteries.

Also others can explain better than me as to why, sorry I can't help more.

I know its a dumb question but if i hooked my 8 gauge + to a marine deep cycle battery in the rear of my truck an grounded battery and ran leads off the that battery to my amp would i gain from that?
Thanks
i used a deep cycle marine battery for a while right next to the amp, never had a problem with doing it, never had any troubles. it helped my voltage. i also mixed batteries and never had a problem either. HOWEVER im not telling you to mix batteries just giving you my exp with doing it and using a Deep cycle marine battery,

as far as deep cycle batteries go, AGM batteries are deep cycle batteries... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif .... for example my current Deka Unigy AGM's are deep cycle batteries....

Aha, that is right. I know others can explain the deep cycle thing more.

i have two deep cycles can i use one for underhood an one for extra in the back?
Surprised nobody said to upgrade the wiring first... you said you're running 8 gauge? What kind of amp/s are you running off that? and why the need for a 2nd battery?

Also, you could use both deep cycles like that, but be careful the battery has enough cranking amps/cca to start your car.

im only running 2 Memphis 500.1 an yes i am planing on upgrading wiring. Im getting the dims when bass hits. just orderd some 1/0 so that should help a bit
If I were you, I'd save myself a future headache and just get a ho alt... maybe they make a different alt for a similar model car as yours with higher output? With 1k rms, you shouldn't really need an extra battery, depending on your alt, and wires.
