Hi guys,
I've just bought a JBL GT5 A3001 amp together with a Ground Zero GZIW 300X subwoofer.
According to JBL the amp is mono. This makes senses since these are the watt ratings of the amp.
175W RMS x 1 channels @ 4 ohms
225W RMS x 1 channels @ 2 ohms
300W RMS x 1 channel @ 1 ohm
The subwoofer is 4 ohms so my amp would deliver 175 watts according to JBL.
But what I don't understand is that the amp has to times a plus and minus speaker output.
But the ratings say x 1 channels @ 4 ohms.
Does this mean that the amp will deliver 175 watts when the sub is bridged?
Or will it then be 225 watts since the resistance divides itself by two when bridged.
Or can't I bridge the sub and do I have 2 channels with eacht 175 watts.
I hope my question is asked a bit understandable.
I'm not very experienced with this so therefore this question.
Thanks!
