Can anybody recone a type X?

I recently acquired a blown Type X and was wondering if anybody besides PSI could recone it. PSI says that they about about 80% sure that they can, but have not done it before.

why would it have to be drilled if i keep the stock basket?

the type x basket is a joke. and the spiders are not same size. top bigger than bottom. not a good design. i pulled the motor off one a kid smoked and Corey put a 4 spoke basket on it and built it to take 1k daily.

got spacers for cooling

i have way way more than 1k on it and i can hit it hard at tunning and do that hair trick at 5' in my sound room thats wide open

^ as josh said the type x basket used 2 different sized spiders that is a big no no cause 1 gets worked harder than the other. this sub was built for sql not spl even though its a banger...

Using spiders of different textures and sometimes of slightly different sizes isn't uncommon....

not uncommon on chinnese subs. its no problem to use different spiders such as a stiff and 2 med or a stiff and a soft as to get where you want it. but different sized spiders is just not a good idea...

that type x didnt last off 1k for 3 weeks and the kid didnt even hammer it. box built to alpines specs. i put 2k on the recone and its stupid.

they spend good money on the motor and little on soft parts, typical.

Hey I'm trying to figure out where and exactly what I should have done to my xw10d4... Just got it off marketplace and as soon as I put a 2 ohm load on it it instantly smelled fried... Help plz

Where can I get my xw10d4 reconed? And should I do something different to it to make it better?
