Can a sealed enclosure be powered to be just as loud as a ported one?

Not exactly. You still have thermal and mechanical limits of the driver to consider as well.
ok. How much loss in DB's would you guess? Most 2 12 set ups I have seen on 5k do about 147. Any guess what a sealed or PR set up would lose in volume? Its not my concern. But I am curious.

Not an expert in the field, but I would think between 3-5 db loss would be a decent guesstimate going from ported to sealed. Using a pr is very similar to porting, so the effect would be less drastic.

It is hard to say to be honest. The likely answer is around 3db give or take..but there are a ton of variables that can/will play into it.
3dbs isn't much. Just curious.

I have another question. So. my box height is limited to 14". So If I were to do a PR set up. My choices would be 3 12s. One one every side of the box except the front where the active subs would go facing back.

Or 1 18 on the top side of the box firing upwards in the trunk with the active subs back.

If you had to take a stab at a sealed box size for my 12s. what would you guess? 2.5ft3-3ft3?

Are you planning on using your Mayhems for the sealed box?

They will not like a sealed box.

And your DB loss will be way more noticeable than you think. When I went from 145.2 to 146.4 sealed on the dash it was an insane difference and that's only 1.2

'Zactly. Pro-rabbit can probably tell you more than I can, but there really is no specific number of deebees that you'll lose just by going sealed over ported. It depends on just about everything from the driver to the car, and everything in between.

I asked dbeez and he didn't say there would be a problem.

And it wouldn't be sealed. I'm thinking of trying a PR set up. Like taylorfade

I think the PR setup would be an interesting way to go.
What do you think about the PR location. Would it be louder if I had the 3 12" PRs firing into the side of the trunk. Or the single 18" PR on top firing upwards.

It's something I am thinking about trying because honestly. About 3/4 of my music is metal. And a nice solid frequency repsonse sounds like a WIN! I would still keep the aeroport box in my signature and maybe switch between the 2. Or if I don't like the PR set up. Keep what I got.

I am just debating on maybe trying it. To be honest. I haven't even heard the full potential of my subs. But I did get a chance to heard about 2/3 of its potential. And it was more than enough bass for me. It was plenty loud. And I am not chasing "numbers"
