can 18awg work for sub + speakers?

What sup I'm a super noob, I have alot of 18awg wire that I would like to use to wire my components and my sub. My components are gonna be run by a JBL GTQ400 and my sub is getting juice from an AQ1200 which I'm gonna wire the sub at 4ohm so its gonna get about 500+watts. Can I save some dow and use my RC (Royal Cable) 18awg speaker wire?

For my comps im using monster cable 14 gauge (140 watts per side). As for my subs im running 12 guage (around 1600watts to each of the subs) . They do the job just fine . I used roughly 30 ft of wire for my comps .

well i just wired up my comps today with the royal cable 18 guage i got and it will have to work today i am only running 120rms per side so it will have to work for now

whats so bad about using 18 guage

Its too thin for the amount of current your passing through it.

Will it transfer current to your speakers? Yes.

Is it the correct way? No.

so should i set the gains with my dmm attatched to the end of the speaker line incase the speaker wire isnt getting all the power to the speaker

how big of a difference will it make 18 compared to 14-16 guage

is it actually noticeable
