Calling B.S. on all these HO alternators

I don't believe the alts that are remanufactured put out the amps they say they do. I foolishly bought an alt off ebay an alterstart. It worked ok (a lot better than my stock) with my stock alt it dropped to 12.4 or so and with the alterstart one it didn't drop below about 13.4 but it crapped out on me after about a year and a half so I'm going dc power now larger case might as well buy a 400-500 dollar alt and never have to replace it than these cheap knock offs

DC Power alt have been the only alts I have ever used to not fail in the 1st 6 months of use, and still after a year of use have still not failed. I have used every **** alt out there other than Mechman. I still get calls about every 3 weeks from Rob to ask how everything is doing, cant beat that with a stick.

The bench says 200A DC, and then the meter says ~270A DC, then it must be reset. Such a great meter. :\
If your referring to the Fluke 337 clamp, it was set to hold max and has to be reset to clear it.. It was intended to be that way... There was no discrepancy between the 2 meters, just going from max hold to normal...

Ah, I see. Why did you set it to hold at max? Solely to show it can peak high? O___o

Personally, if I were to buy one, I would go with you guys, but I have a problem believing that it actually outputs that much...

Also, what's the load being used at the bench?

if anyone is doubting his alts.. i don't see why you just don't buy one and prove him wrong.. seems like thats what he wants you to do anyways... let the product speak for itself Rob... no use trying to convince people... everyone wants proof...

its like saying you did a 150+.. nobody will believe it until you are in the vid next to the meter

I don't have $500 to drop on it at the moment, and I think it's going to be a ***** to replace the at on mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

It was set to max just to catch max output, it's kind of hard to hold a camera and catch so many things happening at the same time and I did it so there were 2 meters both showing the same thing... If you dont believe it, you dont believe it.. I guess that's why they have SPL meters too.. The load bank used on that bench is 3 stage resistive, 5 30 amp, 20 10 amp, and 50 1 amp, 400 amps total..

Which is exactly what I'm sure will happen..

Just FYI.. The videos that were done on the car and done on the bench were done with the SAME alternator that was pulled off the (now totalled) car showing the SAME output numbers in both vids... Pretty coincidental huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Are you talking about current shunts? Because I don't think resistors were rated in amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif C'mon, be technical with me. What's the final ohm load? I'm not saying your wrong at all, I'll probably buy from you soon, but I'm curious. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I know we dont use current shunts for load.. The main 1/0 output wire does run through a 500a shunt which is where the ammeter on the bench gets its feed...

Honestly, I dont remember what the final ohm load is... The big first stage bank is made of big "corn cob" resistors that are ~30 amps each @ 12v and 60 @ 24v, but I cant remember what resistance they are, I would honestly have to look.. The second bank I use is actually FET's, not resistors.. Just dumping output to ground through the FET's creating load, and the third stage is actually about 100 2w (size) resistors, but again I honestly dont remember what resistance they are...
