Cable Gauge to Diameter?

there's a calculator about 3/4 down that gives you radius and area, and a chart right below that gives you circ mils, diameter and resistance.

bcae1.com/wire.htm

area of 66.9 sq mm equates to a diameter of about 0.36". That is equivalent to 2/0 gauge.

Knu gives all that information for the regular Kol wires but i cant find any thing on KLM which is a bit bigger to try and adjust for the higher resistance. go to THIS and click on wire specs.

2/0 should have a bigger diameter than .36". I'd think it would be around .75" or bigger.

It also depends on where the wire is being made. is it AWG standard? or some taiwanese crapola?.
Not all wire is made equally.
Correct.

There are 3 types of wire produced: Smaller than advertised, true AWG size, and larger than advertised.

Cheap wire is almost always smaller than advertised, or made of different materials (Aluminum, etc)

Good wire is 99% of the time pure copper and true AWG size or larger.
