BXi 1210D - for single type r?

Ive been browsing around and think I may end up going with the Hifonics BXi1210D. I chose this as I read alot of people preferring the brutus series of hifonics to their other models. I found some on ebay that are factory refurb with a 90 day warranty for 160.

my question is will this be good for my single type r? I'm going to be getting the newer 1223 2 ohm and wiring it down to 1. I already had ram designs make me a 2.1 cf box for me and I wanted to send the R alot of power and get that ***** loud.

what yall think?

Excursion is excursion, doesn't matter how many watts it takes to reach a certain point, the soft parts will wear the same. The key is to just not push it harder than you should, like in any other situation. In this case, he can probably keep the gain close to 0 and still get plenty of power out of it.

what would a gain of 0 be sending out power wise??? i was just thinking of getting a good amp that would be able to serve me for anything in the future too. i was thinking that if I could send the R 600 and see how it is

Id go for a used mb discuss 1500 and just watch the gains. Although I've had a couple bxi and have served me very well your better off with the higher quality stuff from maxxsonics. Plus if you want to add another R you'll have the power to support it.

Thanks for passing the word on my thread. The 1500 already sold though.

Power with gain at zero will vary depending on the output voltage from your headunit and final impedance after box rise. Read up on setting your gains to get a better idea.

I think that's a ridiculous amt of power, but if that's the most amp you can get on your budget I could understand using it.

It would make more sense to me to use the dual 4 at 2 with the option of adding another in the future to run it at 1.

LOC's will typically net fairly high voltage if the HU has any power at all.

Just follow a basic gain setting tutorial.

Start with the gain at zero. Set your filters to something "neutral". I start at around 80 lpf for subs.

Put in some music representative of what you would normally listen to - and preferably something with a reasonable amt of bass.

Turn the HU up to near full volume -- something lower than when its outputs start to clip, typically somewhere in the 70-90% range.

Then go to the amp and slowly increase the gain until the sub starts to stress. When you get to that point back it off a few degrees.

If it's stressing at zero then you know you shouldn't turn it up that loud very often.
