Buying Subs/subwoofer for the first time

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. what my price range is somewhere around $500, give or take some. I could go higher if needed I guess.

I was wondering what I should get? I want to get a setup that does not exceed my stock alternator's capabilities. I am not sure of the stock alternator's specs though.. I am looking for as much bass as I can get without adding another alternator (because that would be a LOT of work that I am not able to do).

Also I am seriously not understanding how to hook up both these woofers (if that's my choice). 1 ohm, 2 ohm, 4ohm, series, parallel, series parallel... can some one please give me some information on all of this? and what wiring configuration would best compliment my setup? And possibly what each one means?

And I need to get all of the wiring and all that stuff. I am not sure what gauge to use, I'm assuming that relies on what amp I get.

Oh and if i'm not mistaken I think the car has a factory amp built in somewhere for the speakers. would I need to somehow bypass this while installing subs?

Thanks guys! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
