For that price I'd go to ebay or the classfieds

Get a single 12" Type R and a Hifonics/Power Acoustik/Crunch 1000 watt mono block amp.

couldn't open second link... that kicker sub is very basic and not in a very good enclosure, for 250 you wont be able to get anything new that is great, but you can get some decent used stuff here, i agree with a 12" type r sub, (used) to save $, and a hifonics, crunch, 1000 watt amp... you could find that all for about 250...

I couldn't agree anymore with these guys the 12Type R is what you are looking for in a ported enclosure.

another thing to consider is that even though you are on a small budget, you should get the best you can, buying something that looks cool or says it does this or that can't compete with quality stuff. if i could go back and spend my money on the good stuff the first time, i'd have saved alot of money and time... so what i'm saying is trust the consensus, (just my $.02)
