Buying Diamond Audio D6s

Hello all,

I currently have a 12W6V2 that I'm looking to replace. It got punctured a few months ago and I haven't had the time or money to look for a new sub. Until now. My amp is an Alpine MD1005 pushing about 850 watts or so.

I would like to score a single D6 to meet my needs. However, DA's website says to not buy their subs from any online retailers and the closest DA shop to me does not have any D6s in stock (and I assume they'd be selling for close to MSRP which is almost $400).

Are those sites trust-worthy and are those subs most recent model or are they just old models hence the cheaper price?

Also, which would be better for the D6s, sealed or ported? I am looking for a small box and my current JL is in a ~1.1 sealed box. I could go bigger to a 1.25 ported at 40 Hz (I don't get why it's reccomended at 40 hz, but thats what DA said) or go smaller to .875 sealed. So advice on a box is appreciate. I'm looking for sql mostly.

Nothing has changed with the D6's anyway, so don't worry about age. Woofers etc is a decent site I believe, but I have not bought from them. I got my Diamond subs on ebay brand new and had no issues.

I got my D6 off of ebay as well. I have mine sealed in a 1.25 cu ft box and love it. I heard that they really like to be in a ported enclosure though. I'm using a larger enclosure to get a little more low end extension out of it.

Woofersect is a good site. I bought my Pioneer Premier 880prs from them.

What size/tuning would you recommend for a ported box? I was thinking of 1.25cu @ 32 Hz.

i have 4 of them, each seeing 1.25 net tuned to 34hz and its loud...i would say

33hz would be good
