do u have to pay tax from the state u buy a car from and the state u live in. like im going to buy a car in Michigan and I'm from Ohio. another thing does it have to be notarized by someone or can they just sign it over to me.

When I bought the M5 in PA, I just had to pay my own state taxes from the state I resided in and then they mailed the title to me. Hope that helps.

You will have to pay the tax in your state when you get the car registered. That's what I had to do when I got my car from new york.

They should just be able to sign the title over to you without a notary.

You pay regular sales tax once you get the car to ohio. 6.5% somewhere around there, probably 30% by now.

You'll also need to get an out of state inspection for like $10, and then you'll need $11 temp tags to get it to the $20 e-check (depends on county) then you can buy your plates like normal!

Notorization depends on the state the car is registered in NOW...

Ohio requires all car titles to be notorized, for example. But i bought a car in Boston, and MA doesn't require notorization, so it wasn't required to be notorized.

So:

You pay sales tax in ohio.

You need out of state inspection.

Notorization depends on current state of the car.

Don't mess up or it will take a LONG time!!!
